I have often been intrigued by panoramic images, their creation, what it takes to put them together. Over the years there have been cameras that would create panos in camera, I never really had access to these. Recently I had the opportunity to attend a sort of class, discussing how to create pano's in the digital darkroom, which enhanced my interest even more. Most of the time when I create an image, I think of the single frame. However, now in certain situations I'm thinking on a larger scale.
It first struck me, on a day trip to Edmonds Washington a few weeks ago. I took a bunch of images with my D200 and a bunch more with my iPhone. I took a series of images with the iPhone, which I knew would be made into a Pano. I had recently downloaded an app called "Autostitch", which is rated relatively well. This little app will import a multitude of images to create the pano. I think it did a pretty good job, granted this one was created with only two images. The image below was also edited via a couple of other apps on the phone, to play with colour and vignettes...

A couple of days ago I was organising some images and came across a total of 7 iPhone images, I had taken in mind of creating a larger pano, so I pulled them into Photoshop to see how it worked. For the most part, I dig it, there was a little bit out of alignment on the left side, so I cropped it of, the image below is created from about 6 1/3 vertical iPhone images. I also did a crop all the way across, to me this one looks more like a true pano.
